What is RADIC (Research & Development Interest Community)?

RADIC has been established for supporting the development and furthering the interests of Research & Development bid and work winning professionals, typically working across academia, Research & Technology Organisations, industry, and not for profit sectors.

Established in 2024, RADIC follows in the footsteps of the APMP UK Chapter’s well established focus groups, such as Social Value, and Procurement Act.

RADIC Aims

RADIC supports the nuances of R&D proposal development through the creation of R&D specific materials, aligned to APMP best practice and supporting professional development.

Initial areas of support focus for RADIC include:

  • Articles, blogs and podcasts specifically focusing on R&D bidding.
  • Creating and developing a virtual R&D community.
  • Understanding and articulating R&D sector funders, priorities, insights and trends.
  • R&D themed events and webinars.
  • Exploring the capabilities and benefits of AI bid tools within R&D bidding.
  • Understanding and articulating Government priorities in R&D and their applicability to work winning.

Additionally, we have some loftier (longer term) aims:

  • Influencing the APMP’s Body of Knowledge.
  • Developing an APMP R&D bidding micro certification.

Benefits

APMP UK's vision is "to be the go-to arbiter of bid, proposal and capture best practice across the UK". RADIC supports this vision by better understanding and improving chapter support for members working within Research & Development (R&D). RADIC is:

  • Supporting the wider professional development of R&D bid professionals.
  • Building a community amongst R&D bid professionals.
  • Raising awareness of APMP within the R&D sector.
  • Elevating the importance of the R&D sector within APMP.
  • Increasing APMP membership from bid professionals in R&D sector.

Community

RADIC seeks to build a community for R&D bid professionals. Beyond committee membership, we are always on the lookout for UK Chapter members willing to volunteer and helping us in our quest to better support fellow R&D Bid Professionals. For example, you could help through delivering a R&D focused webinar, posting on our linkedin page, or supporting Micro Certification development.
