Set up in April 2025, the capture group seeks to help APMP members define and be informed on capture, building a capture professional community and to promote capture continuous improvement.

Before we lock-in on a set of objectives we would like to know what you think. If capture is something that interests you as a career path or you are in a capture role today then please let us know what you think through this survey. The group exists to help you in that journey.

The Group is supported by a number of APMP Members who have strong capture experiences from a number of industries and perspective. We cover Government and commercial sectors and have people from industry roles and the training and consultancy sectors.

See who is involved below.

Our Capture Group Leadership Team

Graeme Robson (Chair): Graeme has been interested in and involved with capture . He first noticed it in 1990s before he knew what it was called and been entranced in its art and science thereafter. Graeme has worked as a consultant and also led global corporate capture functions/teams so has seen how difficult it can be to bring everyone on board, and also the high returns it offers when you do.

A thought from Graeme:

“When I look back, strong. early capture was pivotal in all the easiest wins I’ve enjoyed. It was also completely lacking in all the painful losses I have learned from.”

This can't happen without you though, the committee are similarly members volunteering their time, so if you have an interest and have some time to offer, however small, let us know and share your knowledge and experience with us. It is the best way to make this valuable for us all.

In the coming months we will expand on our plans but to get us started we felt that a focus on the following would provide the greatest value to the membership:

Establish a clear definition of “capture”, emphasising its distinct characteristics across industry sectors and organisations.

Highlight capture’s benefits (process and the role) and impact on improving the Probability of Win (PWIN) for both winning new business and defending re-competes.

Identify capture techniques best suited to typical UK (and European) procurement approaches, covering both government and commercial sectors.

Develop practical frameworks for creating and managing effective capture teams.

Capture Focus Group in Action

On 18 September 2025, the APMP UK Capture Focus Group hosted a dynamic half-day session as part of the APMP UK Roadshow. The event featured a lively panel discussion exploring current capture challenges and best practices, followed by interactive roundtable exercises that encouraged peer-to-peer learning and knowledge sharing. Attendees gained practical insights, shared experiences, and left with actionable ideas to strengthen their capture strategies and define what capture means to them.
