Become a Volunteer

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of APMP UK, supporting both the operational running of the chapter as well providing specialist communities through focus groups.

Operational Support

There are several opportunities to support the running of APMP UK, gaining new skills and experience in areas such as marketing, event management, professional development and finance support.

Every event provided to APMP UK members involves volunteers, with people responsible for webinars, podcasts and in-person events such as the BIDx Roadshow. Heard about the work APMP UK is doing via LinkedIn or via our monthly newsletter? This is due to the hard work of our marketing and communication team. Volunteers give their time every week, often developing skills that fall outside their day time careers.

Focus Group Support

Do you have a specialist passion within the bid and capture community? Our focus groups form communities to help drive best practice, share ideas, and advocate for particular areas of interest. These groups depend on volunteers who are able to represent and provide expertise in each area. From Social Value to Bid Writing and Capture, the members of each group provide vital contributions to the APMP UK Chapter.

Educate and Raise Awareness

Develop new skills
Volunteering in areas like events and marketing provides a great opportunity for personal development outside of your normal career. For example, becoming proficient in the use of Canva or designing and delivering a webinar.
Be part of a community
Volunteering increases engagement with others with the bidding and proposal community, providing the opportunity to work alongside people from different backgrounds and sectors. Our volunteers bring experience from working for a wide variety of companies, from defence to banking, and represent a range of seniority and age levels.
Continuing Education Units (CEU) credits
Volunteers can gain up to 10 CEU credits per year, which provides the necessary number of credits over two years to maintain Foundation Level Certification and half the number of units required for Practitioner Level Certification
Give back
Volunteering is a great way to give something back to the APMP UK community

Implement Inclusive Policies and Practices:

There are three ways to volunteer:
Participate in a Focus Group
This is where the majority of our volunteers support APMP UK
Apply to join one of our operational teams
We will occasionally have specific vacancies for roles in our individual portfolio areas such as the Podcast host. Where this is the case we will invite applications for these rolls.
Micro-volunteering
Do you have specialist skills that can be called upon from time to time for specific tasks? We are in the process of building up a team of volunteers who can support tasks when they emerge without having to provide support on a regular basis.
